Get in Gear for the Philly Auto Show

Attention, car lovers! Did you know that Philadelphia is home to one of the nation’s largest and most-attended showcases of all things automobile? And, even better, that it’s just all minutes from your 1500 Locust apartment?

The Philly Auto Show returns to the Pennsylvania Convention Center February 8-17, featuring a week-and-a-half of parties, workshops, lectures, demonstrations and much more. Some of the world’s biggest car manufacturers will be on site to show off their latest models—some of which you can hop right into the driver’s seat and snap a photo to fool your friends with your new ride. If you are actually car hunting, the Auto Show is a great opportunity to learn about the makes and models that are out there, check out the bells and whistles you may or may not be interested in and even get a feel for the car. Even better, the convention is a “non-selling show,” so you don’t have to worry about being pestered for a purchase!

Apart from all the cars that will be lined up on the floor of the convention center, which is six blocks from your 1500 Locust apartment, the show also hosts hundreds of vendors offering auto-related items and services (and some not so related!). Check out merchandisers featuring everything from steering wheel covers to license plate frames to add a personal touch to your ride.

There are lots of social opportunities associated with the show, particularly its preview party: the Black-Tie Tailgate Party on Feb. 7. Don your finest duds and get an exclusive preview of the show, dine on gourmet dishes from some of the city’s leading restauranteurs and enjoy an open bar, with proceeds supporting the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. There are also plenty of food and drink opportunities on the show floor throughout the show, so you can sip and snack as you peruse all the offerings.

Whether you’re a car fanatic or not, there’s lots to see at the Auto Show!
