The month of October brings lots of
exciting fall fun: sweater weather, pumpkin spice and firepit parties. One of
the best ways to welcome autumn near your 1500 Locust apartment is at one of
the many fall festivals taking place in and around Philly this month. Some
emphasize fashion, others art and still others music—but most have one thing in
common: brews! Oktoberfest-themed events abound in the area this month,
offering you plenty of opportunities to enjoy some sudsy socializing in the
spectacular October weather.
If you’re looking for a fall
brewfest with a slightly different spin, check out Pour the Core, one of the
biggest cider fests in the region. Held at the Navy Yard, a quick 10-minute
ride on the Broad Street Subway from your 1500 Locust apartment, the event
features the opportunity to sample more than 75 ciders, beers and wines from
dozens of regional makers. Sampling is unlimited so spend a full day sipping
and picking your favorites, many of which you can buy to go right on site.
Grab VIP tickets and get in early to
have some extra time to hop from table to table with your tasting glass before
the crowds start building. While the drinks are the main focus of the day, that’s
certainly not all there is to enjoy about Pour the Core. The festival also
features hands-on craft stations where you can grab some gifts for family or
make a hand-crafted item for your 1500 Locust apartment. When you want a break
from sipping, check out any of the handful of gourmet food trucks, where you can
snag tacos, ice cream or even a crowd favorite: pizza in a cone!
So clear your schedule for Oct. 19,
put on your favorite fall flannel and head down to South Philly for a local
tradition that gives you a perfect taste of fall.
