Here’s What to Check Out in the Fashion District

If you haven’t traveled to the other side of Broad Street recently, you’re in for quite a few big changes! The Fashion District officially opened its doors last month, as dozens of new apparel shops, restaurants, bars and more have taken up residence along East Market Street and the surrounding blocks—all just minutes from your 1500 Locust apartment.

The Fashion District has been four years in the making, with a $400-million investment that transformed the former Gallery shopping mall into a chic and sleek shopping district that is helping the East Market area embrace its full potential. Here are just a few of the highlights of what you’ll find in the new Fashion District:

Shopping: As its name suggests, the Fashion District is home to about three-dozen shops. From big-name apparel stores like Century 21 and H&M, to the quirky Philly-centric South Fellini and a dozen shoes and accessories shops, if you need to spruce up your wardrobe for the fall, a world of possibilities is now just three blocks from your 1500 Locust apartment.

Dining: The dining options run the gamut at the Fashion District. Chain fast-food spots like Chick-Fil-A are represented, alongside local faves like Philly Pretzel Factory, Chickie’s & Pete’s and Big Gay Ice Cream. There are also a number of spots perfect for those watching their waistlines, like Freshii and BurgerFi.

A number of exciting entertainment options are expected to open at the Fashion District this fall, including a multi-screen movie theater, an art gallery and an amusement center featuring bowling, karaoke and an arcade. Until then, plan your next happy hour for City Winery, a New York transplant featuring food, drinks and live music.

While Center City was already full of entertainment possibilities, the long-awaited introduction of the Fashion District adds just another reason to the long list of things that make living at 1500 Locust so exciting!
