Everyone’s favorite candy company recently made
a pretty sweet decision—opening a shop in the heart of Philadelphia, just
minutes from your 1500 Locust apartment!
Locals and tourists alike are flocking to the
new Hershey’s Kitchen at the Independence Visitors Center. The spot is the
candy giant’s very first café concept—only fitting that it should be nestled
right in the city’s historic area, itself full of so many firsts!
While the shop is a favorite of visitors who are
taking in Philly’s historic sites, it’s open daily to candy lovers of all
stripes. Those with a sweet tooth will be in paradise in Hershey’s Kitchen,
which features a full menu of sweets, which don’t just use Hershey’s products
but also tap into the local market, with partnerships with La Colombe, Dietz
& Watson and Turkey Hill—many of which you can enjoy on site or take home
to your 1500 Locust apartment.
The menu includes warm baked goods like stuffed
brownies, soft pretzels (a Philly fave!) with melted chocolate dipping sauce
and savory cookies. Cool off this summer with a Hershey’s milkshake or stop by
when the weather changes for some hot chocolate. If you need a caffeine burst
on your lunch break, run in to the shop for brewed or iced coffees. One of the
café’s most standout selections is its Signature S’mores, which visitors make
themselves at a s’mores-making station, picking out their favorite ingredients
and toppings. While the shop has a definite sweets focus, it also features a
line of sandwiches, salads, and fruits and veggies (in case you want to be a
little healthy before indulging in some dessert!).
Hershey’s Kitchen is located just one mile from
your 1500 Locust apartment so you can easily stroll straight down Market Street
to the store, satisfy your sweet tooth and then burn off a few of those
calories on the way home!
