Best Local Spot to Watch the Super Bowl

Let’s face it: This year’s Super Bowl won’t be nearly as exciting as last year’s! Even though our Eagles won’t be in the big game, that doesn’t mean you can’t still get into the Super Bowl spirit, chowing down on wings, lifting a glass and voting for your favorite commercials (while rooting for a return trip for the birds to next year’s Bowl!).

You can certainly host a Super Bowl party at your 1500 Locust apartment, but if you want to let someone else do the cooking (and cleaning up!), you’re in luck, as there are tons of worthy local spots to enjoy the game. One of the standout sports bars in our neck of the woods is Bar-Ly, six blocks from your 1500 Locust apartment.

Bar-Ly is Chinatown’s only sports bar, so it definitely knows how to put on a great show for game day. There are 20 televisions scattered throughout the venue, so no matter where you’re sitting, you’ll have a great view of the game. Bar-Ly’s food menu is a sports lover’s dream. Though it offers full-size entrées, many of Bar-Ly’s dishes are designed around the small-plates concept, making the selections perfect for sharing with your group. While wings are the go-to for any Super Bowl party, Bar-Ly takes pub grub to a new level with additional selections like skewers, sliders, rolls, flatbreads and an array of Asian-fusion dishes.

And of course, no Super Bowl party is complete without your favorite drinks. Beer lovers will feel right at home at Bar-Ly, which has an impressive 60 beers on draft, including many locally made brews—from IPAs to Pilsners and everything in between. On the spirits side, Bar-Ly offers an array of wines and sakes, as well as a long list of creative cocktails, martinis and beer-inspired concoctions.

Even if football isn’t your thing, Super Bowl Sunday can still be an exciting opportunity to get out and about and enjoy Philly’s sports bar scene!
