Three Ways to Send Off Summer

August has arrived, meaning the end of the summer will shortly follow, a bittersweet time for lovers of fun in the sun. If you’re dreading the shorter days, the cooler weather and the departure of the lazy, leisurely days of summer, you’re certainly not alone! However, there are still a few short weeks where we can embrace all that summer has to offer—and, near your 1500 Locust apartment, that’s an awful lot!

Here are a few ways to squeeze the most you can out of the end of summer 2018:

Summerfest: The riverside carnival wraps up for the season on Sept. 3. Located 1.5 miles from your 1500 Locust apartment, Summerfest transformed BlueCross RiverRink into a summer playground for adults—complete with a roller rink, rides, carnival competitions, mini golf and lawn games. Get one last taste of summer at the attraction’s Crabshack, featuring Philly fave Chickie & Pete’s, along with a waterfront bar.

Parks on Tap: The traveling beer garden sidles into South Philly from Aug. 8-12, taking over Dickinson Square Park, 1.5 miles from your 1500 Locust apartment. The three-acre urban park is a perfect spot for the event, which features craft beer, gourmet food and opportunities to mix and mingle with neighbors over games, or as you lounge in hammocks.

PHS Beer Garden: The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s pop-up Beer Garden closes up shop in September. Located at 15th and South streets, four blocks from your 1500 Locust apartment, the outdoor oasis features botanical-inspired cocktails, craft beers and light bites, along with daily happy hour discounts. The garden is hosting special events throughout the rest of the summer, such as yoga sessions, pet-friendly events, quizzo and more.
