How to Celebrate 4th of July in Philly

Your 1500 Locust apartment is smack dab in the middle of the birthplace of American freedom, so it would only make sense for the area to go all-out on the most patriotic day of the year—and it does!

Philadelphia’s 4th of July festivities are unparalleled. From concerts to parades to fireworks and everything in between, the City of Brotherly Love is the place to be to celebrate Independence Day. The area around your 1500 Locust apartment takes center stage for much of the celebration and, with so many options within walking distance of home, this is a great opportunity to gather friends and family in town for a day-long holiday outing.

Here are just a few of the standout events coming our way. Don your red, white and blue and we hope to see you out there!

The Philly POPS! at Independence Hall: Every year on the eve of the big holiday, the city’s renowned pop orchestra plays a massive free concert before Independence Hall, one mile from your 1500 Locust apartment. The building is the spot where the Declaration of Independence was signed, so it’s a fitting (and beautiful!) setting for a nighttime concert that draws a diverse group of music-loving Philadelphians.

Independence Day Parade: Break out your American flags and head to Fifth and Chestnut streets, one mile from your 1500 Locust apartment, for the annual Independence Day Parade. The festivities kick off at 11 a.m. July 4 and feature thousands of participants from around the nation, who will ride patriotic floats, perform along the parade route and throw prizes to bystanders.

Freedom Festival Fireworks: Locals have two options for July 4th fireworks: on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway or at Penn’s Landing. The former can get overwhelmingly packed, so those who enjoy a little elbow room may want to head to the riverside Freedom Festival Fireworks, 1.5 miles from your 1500 Locust apartment. The spectacle will be set off from barges along the river, so bring along some chairs or blankets and you’ll be sure to get a great view from anywhere along Penn’s Landing. The show stars at 9:30 p.m.
