Deals and Steals at Old City Eats

The restaurant scene in Old City is blossoming—and a popular seasonal event is celebrating that!

Starting last month, Old City Eats is back at dozens of restaurants near your 1500 Locust apartment, giving you the opportunity to dine out for less every week through the end of the summer.  Old City Eats is held from 5-8 p.m. each Thursday until Aug. 31, with all 105 participating restaurants offering at least one half-priced appetizer and drink specials. Participants range from fine-dining venues to corner bars, meaning there’s something for every occasion and price point. And with culinary choices that are just as diverse, you can try a new spot each week to get a full taste of Old City.

Here are a few of the standouts:

Ariana: If you’re in the mood for something adventurous, try Ariana, 1.5 miles from your 1500 Locust apartment. The cozy spot features genuine Aghani dishes, with an ambiance to match. From kabobs to kadu, the eatery will be a favorite with those who want to go beyond the traditional Italian dinner. And to top it all off, Ariana is BYOB!

Zahav: If it’s fine dining you’re after, try Zahav, about one mile from your 1500 Locust apartment. Zahav serves classic Israeli fare with international influences. Dishes are served as small plates, which encourages diners to share and sample. The restaurant has an impressive cocktail list as well as one of the largest selections of Israeli wine in the country.

Mac’s Tavern: Fans of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” have to put Mac’s Tavern, 1.5 miles from your 1500 Locust apartment, on their Old City Eats schedule. The pub is owned by two of the hit show’s stars and is an ode to all things Philly, from its décor to its menus.
