Dine out For Life in Philly

Once a year, thousands of restaurants across the nation, including dozens near your 1500 Locust apartment, join forces in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Dining Out for Life has been raising funds for HIV/AIDS causes for decades, and 2018 is set to be the biggest and best year of the fundraiser. On April 19, more than 175 local eateries will donate a third of their proceeds to the effort, which will then be distributed directly to local residents affected by the disease as well as to organizations that work to combat the epidemic. While the event raises funds and awareness for a serious cause, it’s also designed to encourage diners to enjoy a fun night out, with many venues featuring entertainment, raffles and specials.

Diners can find something to suit any taste at Dining Out for Life, as restaurants representing a range of flavors, and across varying price points, are participating. Even among eateries near your 1500 Locust apartment, you can find lots of options, such as:

Food Truck Pop-Up: A few days before the big event, Midtown Village, just three blocks from your 1500 Locust apartment, will show its support in a big way, through the sixth-annual Food Truck Pop Up. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. April 14, the 1300 block of Locust Street will be filled with more than a dozen food-makers, doling out everything from popsicles to pierogis. The event will feature live music and a beer garden which, among other selections, will serve the specially crafted Action IPA by Yards Brewing Company.

Then, on April 19, plan another outing to one (or more!) of the local spots participating in DOFL, including:

More Than Just Ice Cream: Comfort food done right is the mission at More Than Just (as the locals call it!), three blocks from your 1500 Locust apartment.

Tria Café: Wine, cheese and beer, as well as creative small plates, make Tria Café, three blocks from your 1500 Locust apartment, a perfect place for a quick DOFL stop.

Good Dog Bar: Right around the corner from your 1500 Locust apartment, Good Dog Bar serves everything from lite bites to big bites, and everything in between, including its famous burgers.
