Football Fever Hits Philly

Football season is still months away, but you can get in the game this month in Philadelphia.

The city is hosting the National Football League Draft April 27-29 — and for those of us who won’t be putting on our helmets and shoulder pads anytime soon, the NFL is organizing a full-fledged fan festival! The NFL Draft Experience takes over the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, located just one mile from your 1500 Locust apartment, the weekend of the draft, with more than 200,000 expected to turn out for the football fun.

The event features interactive exhibits, virtual-reality games and opportunities to meet and get autographs from NFL players. Fans can snap a selfie with the famed Vince Lombardi Trophy and tour a replica of NFL locker rooms. NFL history will also be on display with the NFL Museum, a space that will feature Super Bowl rings, championship trophies and historical memorabilia from our own Eagles. When you want a break, you can chow down on dishes and drinks from local eateries in the Tailgate section or watch broadcasts from ESPN and other networks about the draft. NFL players will even get in on the fun, matching up against fans in competitions like a 40-yard dash.

The best part? It’s all free!
